Synopsis

The pivotal prospective, multicenter validation of the Afirma Gene Expression Classifier: a 19-month study at 49 clinical sites enrolling 3,789 patients and 4,812 fine-needle aspirates, published online June 25, 2012 and in print August 23, 2012. Kennedy is second author. Veracyte said the results showed the potential for the classifier to reduce unnecessary thyroid surgeries by more than half.
